Mission: The mission of the Delta Literacy Project is to assist in decreasing the illiteracy rate among adults who want to learn to read or improve reading skills. We strive to “make a difference.” The Delta Literacy Project is an ABE ( Adult Basic Education) Program offering free, one-on-one tutoring to any adult 18 years of age or older needing our services. The Delta Literacy Program is funded by the State of Illinois and is one of the Educational Development Programs with the Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. All tutors with the program are volunteers and have been trained to teach the adult learner. If more information is needed, please feel free to come in on any of the days and hours listed below.
