Mission: A Just Harvest is an anti-hunger organization based in Rogers Park that implements three strategies for ending hunger: 1) feeding hungry people, 2) organizing for a fair economy and 3) creating local economic development opportunities.
Annual Budget: $825,000
Key Campaigns: Our Community Kitchen serves a nutritious dinner 365 days a year to anyone in need, distributes tens of thousands of pounds of food annually, and supplements the nutritional needs of children afterschool & during breaks. Northside P.O.W.E.R. (People Organized to Work, Educate and Restore) trains leaders and organizes communities to win public policies that alleviate poverty and hunger and create a more just economy. The Genesis Project marshals community assets and other resources to create economic development opportunities in Rogers Park. Current projects include the Above Ground Urban Agriculture program (AGUA) that includes aqua-gardening and a micro lending program.
