Dan is a partner in the New Markets Tax Credit group and has successfully represented developers, lenders and investors in community development and affordable housing projects which utilize new markets tax credits, low-income housing tax credits and other forms of government financing. Dan’s practice includes: representation of a non-profit homeless shelter in the development of a new shelter and a federally qualified health center on Chicago’s West Side, representation of a joint-venture of three non-profits in the development of a large food-business incubator as part of a larger transit-oriented redevelopment strategy in a struggling neighborhood of Chicago, and representation of a non-profit in the development of a new campus to house its programs that serve children who are part of and who have aged-out of the foster care system in Chicago. Dan pairs his legal work with involvement in the community where he holds various board positions within public interest organizations. He currently serves as the President of the Board of Directors of Thresholds, the largest mental health provider in the State of Illinois, is a Board Member of the American Jewish Committee and was the co-founder of the First 10: Public Interest Lawyers Network.
