Dr. Andrew Albert is a practicing Board Certified Gastroenterologist and the Medical Director of Digestive Health at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. He is the recipient of the American Cancer Society’s “80% by 2018” National Achievement Award; honored for his work in colon cancer screening and a member of the NCCRT Hospital and Health System Advisory Committee. Dr. Albert is the co-founder of Fibroblast, a referral management platform geared toward improving patient outcomes in major health systems.

Dr. Albert’s mission is to eradicate Colon Cancer, a disease that is 90% preventable and that impacts 1:21 lives each day.  After losing a young patient to colon cancer, Dr. Albert pinned a sign to his back and biked through the city of Chicago to share the message that people need to be screened for colon cancer. This action resulted in a grassroots awareness campaign starting the #backoffcoloncancer movement in 2017 which resulted in a global effort. Dr. Albert has been a true advocate in the cancer community and will passionately continue his mission until every age-appropriate person has been screened.

Dr. Albert attended Brandeis University and received his Medical and Masters in Public Health Degrees at the George Washington University Medical Center. He became Associate Chief Resident at Boston University, and completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Loyola University Medical Center. Dr. Albert has also completed advanced training at the University of Chicago.
