I stopped by the Metro Deli and Sports Bar inside Union Station on Canal and Adams near my work location.
Inside the sports bar, there are many varieties to choose from under $10. There are entree salads, deli sandwiches, sides, toasted subs, beverages and breakfast items. Plus, there are carving board specials, including roast turkey on Monday, pot roast on Tuesday, mile high meatloaf Wednesday, New York roast sirloin Thursday, and top sirloin London broil Friday. There is even a build your own taco Thursday and a pot luck buffet with a drink purchase on Friday. It’s a cafeteria-style place that gives you a tray, and you tell the chef what food and side that you want.
Metro Deli isn’t just about sports and plasma TVs. There is a live DJ performance on Fridays with prizes and other giveaways. The restaurant is clean and lighting is dim, but not too dark. The meat loaf I had on Wednesday was the $7.99 special with two sides (I chose mashed potatoes and baked beans) and it filled me up. It was good.
I would definitely recommend Metro Deli and Sports Bar, it’s not your fancy run of the mill restaurant or typical fast food chain. If you like sports, entertainment, or need a private party, there is always something brewing at Metro Deli. Kitchen hours are 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. Saturday. Bar hours are 10:30 a.m. – 9:30 p.m., Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
