That’s the pitch to an estimated 5,000 volunteers in the 20th annual Chicago Cares’ Serve-a-thon, the largest single-day community service event in the city.
Chelsea Clinton will address the kick-off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at Daley Plaza, 50 W. Washington. Clinton will be in Chicago for the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative America, an event focused on promoting economic recovery in the U.S.
Along with Clinton Foundation volunteers, she will join in service projects around the city: educational programs and beautification of parks, school classrooms and libraries, and playgrounds in underserved communities.
Afterward, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., volunteers can return to Daley Plaza for free food and drink as well as live music.
Registration is $35 and the deadline is June 10. For more information and to register, visit www.chicagocares.org.
