This year’s Teen Living Programs (TLP) Spring Gala successfully raised over $500,000 towards their mission to support homeless youth.

The gala was held at the Zurich Ballroom (323 East Wacker Drive) on Saturday, March 9 and boasted close to 500 attendees. This year, United Airlines was honored as the Partner of the Year for its outstanding support of TLP.

All proceeds from the event benefited Teen Living Programs, the only agency in Chicago exclusively dedicated to serving youth who are homeless. 2,000 youth in Chicago are homeless on any given night, yet there are just over 200 beds available to serve them. TLP provides a fifth of these accommodations and offers youth who are homeless comprehensive resources to heal from the trauma of homelessness and gain independence. As the agency’s single largest fundraiser, the annual Gala provides critical funding to TLP and is essential to the on-going success of the organization.

Teen Living Programs’ mission is to create hope and opportunity for youth who are homeless by assisting them to permanently leave the streets, secure stable housing, and build self-sufficient, satisfying lives.

SCOPe: Street outreach connecting youth to housing and services

Bronzeville Youth Shelter: Emergency housing for 4 youth, ages 14 to 17

Belfort House: Transitional residence for 24 youth, ages 17 to 21

CaSSA: Permanent housing apartments for 10 youth, ages 18 to 24

Teen Living Programs has successfully served Chicago’s at-risk youth for more than 35 years. The organization began in 1976 as a specialized house care program for wards of the state and started serving youth who are homeless in 1981. Since 2001, it has focused solely on youth who are homeless. It is the only Chicago agency to do so.
